Manifesto
God
gave us our life, but is our decision to choose the way we want to live it. We
can stay with the bad moments of our life. Moments like the departure of a close
relative, or the failure of a goal. But there is another way of living our
life. We can get over our problems and continue stronger than never. People can
remember the good memories lived with all of those persons that are gone. Also
we can learn from the errors we have committed when not achieving our goals.
And fixing those errors will help us concrete our future goals.
Through 4 years I went to poor villages
to donate food and toys to the most needed. My mother took me and my brothers
to this places. To be honest, at that time I didn't like this. By that time I
was 8 years old and I didn't realize the importance of helping the most needed,
and how this would form me as a good person. When I saw the smiles of the
little kids when they receive a toy I didn't feel anything. Now I feel
happiness of just remembering the smiles of this kids. For me those toys were
just a piece of plastic. For them those toys were their happiness, their motive
to smile. Now I want to repeat every single moment that I share in those
villages. I want to see thousand of children smile and give them a motive to be
happy. I love seeing people smile and I'm willing to do anything to see hundred
of kids doing this. My mother took me to these places to give me a short but
excellent lesson, a lesson about humbleness.
She wanted to teach me the importance of
being a humble person. I have two main definitions for a humble person: is that
one that help the others for nothing in exchange. And a humble person is that
one who accepts their errors and accept constructive critics. As an unknown
writer said " Work for a cause, not for applause. Live life to express,
not to impress. Don't strive to make your presence noticed, just make your
absence left." This quote shows exactly what I think about humbleness.
I like watching other peoples smiles when I help them. I like receiving
orders in order to improve. By attending to that poor villages I've changed the
way of thinking. Maybe my mom took me to this different places because she knew
that her departure was soon. And maybe she wanted to teach me a life lesson, to
be humble.
For me, the most important thing in life
is the family. I need to tell you that living the slow death of your mother
during 2 years, is like living your own death. My mother was diagnosticated of
breast cancer. At first I was told that mom had a single illness, but it was
all false. I remember how mom was an entire year in her bed with a permanent
nurse. I wanted to be with her all the time. As soon I was done with school, I
went immediately with her. I remember every second that I spend next to her.
When she used to read me comic books, or when I told her about my
impossible love. I loved all those moments. I saw every stage of that horrible
disease. It is sad when I hear the juveniles talking bad about their mothers.
They say that their mothers are annoying. In a future I'll like to give
speeches to all those youths that said bad things about their moms. Do they
really value their moms? I guess no. You don't know what you have until you
lose it. One of the two heroes of my life is gone, but the other one is
right next to me. He is the great Jeremiah.
Jeremiah is my father. His name is
Guillermo, but I call him like this since some years ago. My father is my idol,
my hero. He has shown me that in the darkest moments we need to be brave and
face our problems. Dad has never give up on his dreams. He have assume the role
of mother and father through seven years. And he is doing a great job. I know
is hard for him to assume this roles because he is always busy with work. But
he always have time to listen to our problems and to support us. My father is a
dreamer man, a person that is always looking for greatness. By the way that my
father has raised me and the examples he gives me every day. I've learned that
nothing in life comes free and to achieve things we need to study and put
effort to our work. Dad is my example to follow. If I have kids, I want to be
like my father. I want to show my kids that in order to achieve dreams we need
to fail sometimes. I want them to be as dreamers as my father. And I want them
to be as humble as my father. My father has taught me that money is a thing
that can go any day, but your knowledge will stay forever.
It is not a secret that for many kids
school is boring. At first school was so boring for me. But as time passes I
get more matured and I understand the importance of attending to school. The
school is the unique place where you acquire the first knowledge of your life.
With this knowledge you are going to face many challenges, like being admitted
to your prefer University. In Colegio Panamericano I've cried, I've being sad,
I've being happy, I've yell, I've being in problems, but the most important
thing I have learned. I have learn that all the persons are equal, I have learn
that the only way to succeed is to study, I have learned how to be a good
friend. I will always remember Colegio Panamericano as my second home. All the
teachers that I had since first grade will be on my mind. I loved that the
teacher were also our friends, were also persons that we can count on. My stage
in Colegio Panamericano is going to end soon, I think I acquire the sufficient
knowledge to continue my life as an student. This is not a goodbye, it's a see
you soon.
And then I realize that our life is like
a heart beat. It has its ups and downs. But is our decision whether to stay
down or fight for a prosperous life. Who was going to imagine that a 17 year
old will live such different types of experiences. I've had horrendous
situations that have marked my life in a significant way. But those situations
made me stronger. Those experiences give me the power to stand up every day and
follow my dreams. I know my mom is beside me. She is taking care of me because
there is no love like mothers love. Throughout life we are going to loose many
persons, we are going to feel in hell, we are going to think that everything is
over, in that time is when we need to show the strength that we have and move
on. As Gwen Stacy said in the film The Amazing Spiderman 2 : "It's easy to
feel hopeful on a beautiful day like today, but there will be dark days ahead
of us too, and they'll be days where you feel all alone, and that's when hope
is needed most, no matter how buried it gets, or how lost you feel, you must
promise me, that you will hold on to hope. Keep it alive, we have to be greater
than what we suffer. My wish for you, is to become hope, people need that, and
even if we fail, what better way is there to live. As we look around here
today, and all the people who helped make us who we are." This fabulous
quote basically resumes my manifesto. In my opinion this quote shows the
process of life, you need to face many problems and move on. So, enjoy life as
if there is no tomorrow.
